LAS Secretary General and UN Envoy Larsen discuss Syrian-Lebanon developments – LAS Press release/Non-UN document


Secretary General Investigates Syrian-Lebanese Situation with Larsen over Telephone (2-4-2005) 

Secretary General Amre Moussa of the Arab League of States held a telephone conversation with UN Special Envoy Terje Roed-Larsen investigating the latest developments concerning the Syrian-Lebanese dossier.

Official Spokesman Hossam Zaki of the Arab League Secretary General said both officials have tackled Larsen;s visit to the region during which he will prepare the UN Secretary General's report for onward presentation to the Security Council next April 19th.

Spokesman Zaki also said Larsen has expressed relief over the smooth progress in both issues of the Syrian withdrawal and Lebanon's cooperation over the international investigation in the assassination of late PM Rafik El Hariry. In the same context, Secretary General Moussa has stressed to Larsen that the smooth progress in both issues, in addition to the preparation underway for the upcoming Lebanese elections, are all being positive factors that should be reflected in Larsen's report and accordingly in the the Security Council's way of dealing with the issues.
