EU supports Palestinian public service providers with a further €21 million – EU press release/Non-UN document

European Union supports Palestinian public service providers with a further 21 million Euros

The Temporary International Mechanism (TIM) is to disburse a further 21 million Euros in financial support to Palestinian civilian public service providers between 3 and 7 June 2007. More than 77,000 beneficiaries will receive NIS 1,500 directly into their bank accounts.

The TIM allowances aim to support the Palestinian population in the context of the current socio-economic crisis. This payment is made with contributions from the United Kingdom and the European Commission, in coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Finance.

In total, more than one million Palestinians benefit from the social allowances paid by the Temporary International Mechanism.

Since July 2006, more than 300 million Euros have been made available through the TIM.
