Federal Minister Steinmeier met with Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority
Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, today to discuss the situation in the Middle East. Foreign Minister Steinmeier informed President Abbas about the efforts of the Middle East Quartet, which reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful solution in the Middle East at its meeting in Berlin on Wednesday (21 February). President Abbas told the Minister about his recent talks with Prime Minister Olmert and US Secretary of State Rice, and updated him on the ongoing formation of a government in the Palestinian territories.
Following their talks, the two men issued the statements to the press.
