U.N. SAYS THAT UP TO 250,000 PALESTINIANS IN SYRIA ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE
- The UN agency assisting Palestinians – known as UNRWA – says that up to 250,000 Palestinians in Syria are in need of food, health services and other assistance. It called for $54 million to help those affected by the crisis.
- Syria is home to more than 500,000 Palestinians, most of whom live in Damascus, Homs, Aleppo and other urban centres.
- Many of those in need will need cash assistance because the small businesses they work for have shut down, the agency says.
