Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan,
on the recent situation in Jerusalem and the West Bank
 

1. The Government of Japan strongly deplores the recent attack in synagogue which occurred on November 18 in West Jerusalem. Japan expresses its heartfelt sympathy for the victims and sends condolences to the bereaved family.

2. In this context, the Government of Japan is deeply concerned with the recent intensification of vicious circle of violence which has caused many casualties and the rising tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

3. Japan once again emphasizes the necessity of continuing efforts among all the parties concerned to ease tensions and to enhance mutual trust for the resumption of the peace negotiation.
