France’s FM Fabius condemns the West Bank kidnapping of 3 young Israelis – French MoFEA statement/Non-UN document

Israel/ Palestinian Territories – Statement by Laurent Fabius (17 juin 2014)

I condemn the kidnapping in the West Bank of three young Israelis and share the concern of the families and the Israeli authorities. I call for their immediate release. Everything must be done to achieve that goal.

France is especially concerned at the upsurge in violence in recent days in the West Bank and in Gaza. We condemn the firing of rockets from Gaza into Israeli territory. The truce agreed upon in 2012 must be respected.

We deplore the death of a child on Saturday in Gaza following an air raid and the death of a young Palestinian on Monday near Ramallah. France calls for efforts to avoid further casualties and the risk of an escalation of violence.
