New Sports and Culture Center in Hebron taking form – TIPH press release/Non-UN document

Tareq Ben Ziad Sports and Culture Center well under way

Step by step, the new Sports and Culture Center in the Tareq Ben Ziad area of Hebron is taking form. The construction works are well under way, and the center will open its doors to the public before New Year's.

The largest project in the history of the TIPH is carried out in cooperation with Hebron Municipality. The objective is to give some 5 000 boys and girls in the deprived Tareq Ben Ziad area in H2 access to modern sport facilities, allowing them to exercise and participate in various activities.

Since the initiation of the project in 2008, its scope has grown. The wrestling hall has been extended to meet international standards, enabling the Sports Center to host international competitions. The improvement has caused a slight delay, but will allow the center to broaden its activities and benefit users from the entire region.

Apart from the wrestling hall, the center has a swimming pool and rooms for other sport activities. The facilities will be adapted to the needs of the disabled.

I believe the project will enhance the well-being of Palestinians, not only those living in Tareq Ben Ziad, but for all Hebronites, says TIPH Project Manager Khaled Abdel Fadil.
