Dear friends,

We are glad to have you in Moscow. A week ago, a telephone conversation took place between President Vladimir Putin and President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, during which the sides discussed the situation surrounding the Gaza Strip. The leaders agreed that you would come to Moscow and share with us your assessment of the situation.

We are very concerned about the situation in the Gaza Strip and around it. We are making efforts to actively support Egypt’s initiative. Negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis with Egypt acting as mediator continue. We believe that the talks must lead to signing an agreement on a long-term and sustainable truce.

We are convinced that this goal should not freeze the situation, but instead become a good starting point for achieving a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian – Israeli conflict. We will actively work on this. We have certain ideas on this account which we would like to share with you. We would like to listen to your plans regarding the achievement of a sustainable and comprehensive peace.

I hope that we will have a useful meeting and discuss everything thoroughly.
