OIC secretary general appeals to Palestinians to observe restraint and avert bloodshed
The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed his deep regret at the painful events witnessed in the occupied Palestinian territories and urged all the concerned forces and Palestinian components to observe self-restraint, give precedence to dialogue and steer away from any internal strife so as to spare the blood of the Palestinian brothers. He called for the implementation of the provisions of the Agreement reached during his visit to Palestine on 19th December last, according to which all arms should be withdrawn from the street, the security forces should not be thrust into the political controversy and the tension that is sweeping across the Palestinian scene should be ended.
On this occasion, Prof. Ihsanoglu reiterates his urgent appeal to all the Palestinians to avoid in-fights, to be observant of the sanctity of the Palestinian blood and to return immediately to the national dialogue so as to form a national unity government for the benefit of ending the ordeal suffered by the Palestinian people as a result of the sanctions and the blockade.
