Argentina to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General

I have the honour to enclose the text of a resolution adopted on 28 June 1988 by the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation with reference to Security Council resolution 607 (1988).

I should be grateful if you would circulate this letter and its annex as a document of the General Assembly, under items 37 and 40 of the provisional agenda, and of the Security Council.

ANNEX

Resolution adopted by the Chamber of Deputies

of the Argentine Nation on 28 June 1988

THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES OF THE NATION RESOLVES:

1. To express strong condemnation of the intimidatory policy and the resulting outbreak of unrest in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which endanger the peace and security of their peoples;

2. To call for an end to be put to the acts of violence that have broken out in those territories and for the immediate implementation of resolution 607 (1988) of the United Nations Security Council;

3. To urge the parties to the conflict to pursue a definitive negotiated peaceful settlement guaranteeing the rights to life, liberty and security of the Palestinian inhabitants, while likewise expressing its solidarity with that people;

4. To recognize that the State of Israel has the inalienable right to maintain the security of its historic frontiers.
