State of Palestine draws attention to a crime committed against a 12-year-old Palestinian boy near Handarat refugee camp in Syria – Letter from Palestine

Identical letters dated 21 July 2016 from the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly and the President of the Security Council

Upon instructions from the Palestinian leadership, I am compelled to draw your attention to the brutal and atrocious crime committed against a 12-year-old Palestinian boy, Abdullah Issa, who was abducted, tortured and then beheaded by the Nour al-Din al-Zenki terrorist group in Handarat refugee camp near Aleppo city, Syria.

The Palestinian leadership condemns in the strongest terms this heinous crime and calls for a full investigation and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. The Palestinian leadership also calls for immediate action to provide protection to Palestinian refugees living in Syria.

I would be grateful if the present letter could be distributed as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda items 37 and 38, and of the Security Council.

(Signed) Riyad Mansour
Ambassador
Permanent Observer
