    Report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (S/2006/26)

  

  The President : The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.

  Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, document S/2006/26.

  Members of the Council also have before them document S/2006/57, which contains the text of a draft resolution submitted by Denmark, France, Greece, Slovakia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America.

  I should also like to draw the attention of members to documents S/2006/15, S/2006/5, S/2005/836, S/2005/755, S/2005/747, S/2005/746,

S/2005/715, S/2005/641, S/2005/568 and S/2005/526, containing letters from the representative of Lebanon, and documents S/2005/837, S/2005/731 and S/2005/546, containing letters from the representative of Israel.

  It is my understanding that the Council is ready to proceed to the vote on the draft resolution. Unless I hear any objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.

 There being no objection, it is so decided.

  A vote was taken by show of hands.

 The President : There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 1655 (2006).

  The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.

 The meeting rose at 12.10 p.m.
