Human rights violations emanating from Israeli incursion in the OPT – Request to convene meeting – Letter from Bahrain and Pakistan

Letter dated 10 November 2006 from the Permanent Representatives

of Bahrain and Pakistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva,

addressed to the President of the Human Rights Council

Upon the decision of the Group of Arab States and the Group of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), we have the honour to request you to convene a special session of the Human Rights Council on Tuesday, 14 November 2006, or immediately thereafter, for the purpose of considering and taking action on the gross human rights violations emanating from Israeli military incursions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the recent one in northern Gaza and the assault on Beit Hanoun.

We have the pleasure to enclose herewith signatures of 23 members of the Human Rights Council requesting the special session.
