The Secretary-General met with H.E. General Joseph Aoun, President of the Republic of Lebanon.

The Secretary-General and the President discussed progress toward the implementation of Security Council resolution 1701 (2006).

The Secretary-General underscored that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be fully respected and welcomed the commitment and steps by the Government of Lebanon towards ensuring state monopoly over weapons.
