The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The Secretary General congratulated the country on its election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2024-2025 term. The Secretary-General and the President exchanged views on the situation in Western Sahara, Libya and Mali, including the importance of the Malian peace process for the country and the region. The Secretary-General and the President also discussed the situation in Niger and in the Sahel region.

Le Secrétaire général s’est entretenu aujourd’hui avec S.E. M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Président de la République algérienne démocratique et populaire. Le Secrétaire général a félicité le pays pour son élection en tant que membre non permanent du Conseil de sécurité pour le mandat 2024-2025. Le Secrétaire général et le Président ont discuté de la situation au Sahara occidental, en Libye et au Mali, y compris l'importance du processus de paix malien pour le pays et la région.
