The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine.
 
The Secretary-General and President Abbas discussed recent developments on the ground and reaffirmed their support for efforts towards achieving a two-State solution, with Jerusalem as the shared capital of Israel and Palestine, in accordance with international law, long-standing parameters, relevant UN resolutions and prior agreements.
 
The Secretary-General furthermore highlighted the important humanitarian and stabilizing role of UNRWA.
