Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly, President of the Republic of Haiti

The Secretary-General met today with the President of the Republic of Haiti, H.E. Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly.

The Secretary-General expressed concern over continued delays in the holding of elections. He emphasised the need for inclusive polls to be held as soon as possible.

The Secretary-General and President Martelly discussed the reconfiguration of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti, MINUSTAH. They also discussed efforts to combat the cholera epidemic, including the mobilisation of resources needed to invest in water, sanitation and health systems.
