The Secretary-General met today, 21 September 2010, with H.E. Mr. Boris Tadic, President of the Republic of Serbia.

They discussed a range of issues, including the situation in Kosovo and in the wider Western Balkans region, Serbia's participation in UN peacekeeping operations, and the Millennium Development Goals. On Kosovo, the discussions focused particularly on prospects for dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade facilitated by the European Union. In this regard, the Secretary-General stressed the importance of constructive engagement by the parties and expressed the readiness of the United Nations to contribute to this effort.
