The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.
The Secretary-General and the President discussed recent developments in Ukraine, with the Secretary-General underlining the UN’s full support for the reform efforts. The Secretary-General and the President also exchanged views on diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in eastern Ukraine, with the Secretary-General underscoring the UN’s support for the work of the Normandy Four and the OSCE. They also discussed steps to alleviate the suffering of conflict-affected people, including efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to those living in the conflict zone.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between Ukraine and the UN and underlined the UN’s commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally-recognized borders.
