Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Margot Wallström, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ms. Margot Wallström, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden. 

The Secretary-General expressed his gratitude for Sweden’s contribution to the maintenance of international peace and security, and in particular to conflict prevention, mediation and women, peace and security. 

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister agreed on the importance of implementing recommendations of the recent reviews of the United Nations’ peace architecture, closer cooperation between the United Nations and Member States and greater integration of the peace and security, development and human rights pillars. 

The Secretary-General also sought the support of Sweden in undertaking reform within the United Nations, with a view to effectively achieving the goals of the Charter.
