The Secretary-General met yesterday with H.E. Mr. Djibrill Ypènè Bassolé, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Burkina Faso. They discussed internal developments and exchanged views on the situation in Mali and the sub-region.

The Secretary-General commended Burkina Faso’s sustained efforts to promote reconciliation and dialogue and to counter violent extremism in the Sahel. He also welcomed Burkina Faso’s continuing close cooperation with the United Nations in the implementation of the United Nations integrated strategy for the Sahel.
