Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H. H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates

The Secretary-General met today His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

The Secretary-General thanked the Government of the United Arab Emirates for playing a leading role in the climate change agenda, and suggested the United Arab Emirates’ involvement in the Green Climate Fund.

The Secretary-General called on the Government of the United Arab Emirates to assist in resolving the crisis situation in Libya, in helping the restoration of peace and stability in Egypt, and in confronting the serious terrorist threat in Syria and Iraq.

They also discussed future support to the United Nations’ efforts in Afghanistan.
