Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.R.H. Princess Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and H.E. Mr. Uri Rosenthal, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on the margins of the 67th United Nations General Assembl

The Secretary-General met with H.R.H. Princess Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and H.E. Mr. Uri Rosenthal, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

 

Princess Máxima and the Secretary-General discussed financial inclusion and the Princess’ role as his Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.  Princess Maxima formally presented her Third Annual Report on this subject to the Secretary-General and they exchanged views on a possible role for financial inclusion in the post-2015 development agenda. 

 

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister discussed the contribution of the Netherlands to various issues of the UN agenda, including peacebuilding, the rule of law and the responsibility to protect.  Furthermore, they engaged on Iran, Syria, and the Middle East peace process and touched on the situation in Afghanistan.
