The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Danilo Medina Sánchez, President of the Dominican Republic. The Secretary-General congratulated President Medina on his recent election. They discussed President Medina’s Government priorities related to education and job creation, as well as the issue of food security, health, cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the UN Country Team and the follow-up to the Rio+20 conference. The Secretary-General acknowledged the support of the Dominican Republic to Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake and beyond.
