The Tunisian transition has made great progress in the past year, culminating in the holding of peaceful and orderly elections in October 2011 that led to the establishment of a Constituent Assembly. The Secretary-General commends the people of Tunisia for progress achieved, which he trusts will continue to inspire the region and the world. While the road to democracy is long and may not always be smooth, the United Nations remains committed to working with Tunisia and with all the nations undergoing democratic transitions to help consolidate these efforts towards meeting the legitimate aspirations of their people. Son courage a fait écho dans toute la région où d''autres peuples, encouragés par les actions de leurs frères et s?urs tunisiens, ont pareillement trouvé le courage de faire entendre leurs aspirations légitimes. La transition tunisienne a accompli de grands progrès durant l'année écoulée, culminant avec l'organisation d'élections pacifiques et ordonnées au mois d'octobre 2011 qui ont conduit à la création d''une Assemblée constituante. Le Secrétaire général félicite le peuple tunisien pour les progrès réalisés et espère qu'il continuera d'inspirer la région et le monde. Sachant que la voie de la démocratie est longue et peut ne pas toujours être facile, les Nations Unies demeurent engagées à travailler avec toutes les nations en situation de transition démocratique pour consolider leurs efforts visant à répondre aux aspirations légitimes de leur peuple.
