Statement Attrubutable to the Spokesman of the Secretary-General on Cyprus

The Secretary-General welcomes the initiative of the British Foreign Secretary, H.E. Mr. Jack Straw, to undertake a mission to Cyprus, Greece and Turkey this week. He remains deeply committed to the search for a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue and is confident that Mr. Straw's mission will complement the active engagement of the United Nations.
