Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement made last night (local time) by DRC President Joseph Kabila, naming the Ministers of the new Government of National Unity. The Secretary-General looks forward to the inauguration of this transitional government as soon as possible. He calls on the Government of National Unity to seize this opportunity to work together to bring about peace and stability in the country.
