Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Ernesto Samper Pizano, Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR)

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ernesto Samper Pizano, Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR). 

The Secretary-General thanked Mr. Samper for his leadership in strengthening the cooperation between UNASUR and the United Nations. The Secretary-General commended UNASUR’s participation in the United Nations Summit on Refugees and Migrants. 

The Secretary-General and Mr. Samper exchanged views about regional developments in South America.  The Secretary-General expressed the United Nations’ full support towards the implementation of the peace agreement in Colombia.
