Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E Mr. Khemais Jhinaoui, Foreign Minister of the the Republic of Tunisia

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Khemais Jhinaoui, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tunisia. The Secretary-General welcomed Tunisia’s continued progress in consolidating the gains of the revolution and encouraged the country to further strengthen efforts aimed at providing socio-economic opportunities to the youth and women. The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on developments in the region, in particular the crisis in Libya and its impact on Tunisia. In that regard, the Secretary General noted the frequency of terrorist activities across the country and welcomed Tunisia’s efforts to combat violent extremism. The Secretary-General also commended Tunisia’s role in the advancement of the climate change agenda and strong commitment to the sustainable development goals.
