Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

The Secretary-General welcomed progress that has been achieved recently on climate change, sustainable development, the Iran nuclear deal, Libya and Yemen. He expressed appreciation for the extraordinarily constructive role played by China in reaching the climate change agreement.

The Secretary-General expressed his serious concern over the changing situation in Burundi, and the need for the international community to take urgent measures to prevent a worst-case scenario from developing.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed the situations in Syria and the Korean Peninsula.
