Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal today.  They discussed the ongoing process of constitutional drafting and its importance for democratic transition in Nepal.  The Secretary-General noted the need for a credible Truth and Reconciliation Commission in line with international standards. He appreciated Nepal’s significant contribution to United Nations peacekeeping operations. They also discussed development priorities, the importance of the climate change agenda and the upcoming Summit in September.
