The Secretary-General spoke by telephone yesterday evening with the Prime Minister of Libya, Mr. Al Baghdadi Ali Al-Mahmoudi.
He noted that the Prime Minister expressed again his deepest concerns about the coalition's bombing campaign. The Secretary-General reiterated the urgent need for a real ceasefire and serious negotiations on a transition to a government that fully meets the aspirations of the Libyan people. He told the Prime Minister that his Special Envoy, Abdel-Elah Al-Khatib, had had discussions with the opposition since he last visited Tripoli and that he would be going to Tripoli again soon.
