The Secretary-General met with Prime Minister Netanyahu today.

The Secretary-General expressed his deep concern over the stalemate in the Middle East peace process and encouraged Israel to take more steps to bolster the Palestinian Authority and ease the restrictions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza. They exchanged views on the regional situation, including the alarming implications of the Syrian crisis. 

They also discussed the Iranian nuclear issue and the Secretary-General reiterated his view that the responsibility lies with the Government of Iran to answer the questions and address the concerns expressed by the IAEA.
