Readout of the Deputy Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Andry Nirina Rajoelina, President of the Transition of Madagascar, on the margins of the 67th General Assembly

The Deputy Secretary-General met today 27 September 2012 with H.E. Mr. Andry Nirina Rajoelina, President of the Transition of the Republic of Madagascar.

They discussed the implementation of the Roadmap and the preparations for the 2013 elections.

The President emphasized the need for support from the international community in the organization of free and fair elections. The Deputy-Secretary General conveyed the continued engagement of the United Nations in this regard, and underlined the importance of reconciliation in the country.
