Note to Correspondents on the recent developments along the Colombia-Venezuela border

The Secretary-General is aware of recent developments around several localities at the border between Colombia and Venezuela. The UN system is supporting efforts to address the needs of the persons requiring humanitarian assistance.

The Secretary-General is encouraged to learn that, as in past occasions, both countries are committed to addressing border challenges through constructive bilateral dialogue. He takes note of the positive outcome of the meeting of the two Foreign Ministers which took place in Cartagena on 26 August and the commitment of both countries to strengthen their cooperation to address these challenges.
