Fourth Cycle of the Regular Process

The fourth cycle of the Regular Process was launched by the General Assembly in December 2024, to cover five years from 2026 to 2030. The programme of work for the fourth cycle focuses on four main outcomes: (i) assessment of the state of the marine environment, including socioeconomic aspects; (ii) outreach and engagement activities, including through the World Ocean Assessment digital platform; (iii) Regular Process support for and interaction with other ocean-related intergovernmental processes; and (iv) a capacity-building programme to develop the capacities of States in strengthening the ocean science-policy interface at the national, regional and global levels.
