The Global Environment Facility (GEF)-funded project ‘Implementing the Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea' encompasses significant activities towards review of critical coastal habitat status and trends, as well as land-based sources of pollution
Objectives:
The project will, inter alia, establish mechanisms for monitoring management, ecological and socio-economic indicators for mangrove, coral reefs, seagrass beds and coastal wetlands. Activities will facilitate national and regional level cooperation in tracking results of Strategic Action Programme actions. The project will make a significant contribution to the achievement of the Aichi targets and Sustainable Development Goals.
