Orla Murphy is a Speechwriter and Adviser with responsibility for gender issues, including Beijing+25, in the Office of the President of the 74th Session of the General Assembly.

Before joining the Office, Orla was an Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations working on Education, UN Funds and Programmes, and Sustainable Development. Prior to this, Orla was the Policy and Programme Officer at UNAIDS US Liaison Office, and Advocacy Officer at UNICEF Ireland. Previously, Orla was the International Humanitarian Law Advocacy Officer at the Irish Red Cross.

Orla was Ireland’s first Youth Delegate to the United Nations, and a United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Fellow.

She holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in English and Politics, a postgraduate Bachelor of Laws, and a Master’s in International Public Policy and Diplomacy from University College Cork.
