In accordance with General Assembly decision 74/544 entitled “Procedure for taking decisions of the General Assembly during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic”, the General Assembly adopted the following Decisions today:
Summary: Noting with concern the situation arising out of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the General Assembly decides to postpone to its seventy-fifth session organizing the high level dialogue to assess the progress made in the fight against desertification, land degradation and drought and to map the way forward, in the light of the United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification, which is coming to an end in 2020.
Summary: The General Assembly decided to postpone the biennial meeting of States, scheduled for 15 to 19 June 2020, to consider key challenges and opportunities relating to the implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects1 and the International Instrument to Enable States to Identify and Trace, in a Timely and Reliable Manner, Illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons to a period in 2021 to be decided by the General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session.
Decision 74/553 entitled “Twentieth session of the High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation”
Summary: The General Assembly decided to postpone the 20th session of the High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation to a later date.
Summary: The General Assembly decided to postpone the 21st meeting of the Informal Consultative Process to 2021, to be held at a date to be decided by the Assembly.
