The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with H.E. Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources of Singapore. They discussed the work of the 72nd session of the General Assembly and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The President said that all goals related to the priorities set for the 72nd session had been fulfilled: the three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) events, the agreed text of the Global Compact for Migration, United Nations reforms, and raising the visibility of peace and conflict prevention. On the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, he commended Singapore for its strong commitment to the 2030 Agenda and its sharing of successful stories and rich experiences on sustainability. In this regard, the President wished the Minister much success in the presentation of Singapore’s Voluntary National Review. He also acknowledged Singapore for its active and constructive engagement in the General Assembly, particularly on the work of the Sixth Committee, United Nations reforms, climate, oceans, water and sanitation, and small States at the United Nations through the Forum of Small States (FOSS).
