Media Stakeout by H.E. Peter Thomson, President of the U.N. General Assembly, following the High-Level Segment of the Dialogue on “Building Sustainable Peace for All: Synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustaining Peace Agenda”, on 24 January 2017
UNITED NATIONS, New York, 23 January 2017 — Media are invited to a media stakeout by H.E. Peter Thomson, President of the U.N. General Assembly, on Tuesday 24 December 2016, at approximately 11:15 am.
The media stakeout will follow the High-Level Segment of the Dialogue on “Building Sustainable Peace for All: Synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustaining Peace Agenda.”
The High-Level Dialogue will be convened by the President Thomson in order to deepen the understanding of the links between Sustaining Peace and the 2030 Agenda, and to explore ways to leverage these synergies to establish a coherent, integrated and comprehensive implementation approach to conflict prevention and sustaining peace among political, security and development actors. The event will include the participation of the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, the President of the Economic and Social Council and the Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission. It will feature the participation of up to 20 Ministers and over 100 civil society organizations.
