Meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák

The President of the General Assembly H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson met today with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák. President Thomson informed Minister Lajčák about his recent trips and the work his office is doing in sustaining the momentum for the implementation of the SDGs. He thanked minister Lajčák for contribution of Slovakia to the Trust Fund devoted to Goal 14 and underlined the importance of the Conference on the Oceans in June. The discussion included tomorrow’s High Level Dialogue on the linkages between the 2030 Agenda and Sustaining Peace, as well as and other key events and processes that will continue into the next session of the General Assembly.
Minister Lajčák confirmed the endorsement, by the Eastern European Regional Group, of his candidature for President of the 72nd UNGA session. It was agreed that close contacts and cooperation will continue in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition in the best interest of the General Assembly.
