Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, President of the UN General Assembly, met with His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. They discussed the priorities of the 70th session of the General Assembly and the need to promptly implement the 2030 Agenda for Development. In this regard, Bahrain will host, in December, the first Arab-Ministerial Conference on the implementation of the SDGs in the Arab world. They also discussed the situation in the Middle East, particularly the crises in Syria and Yemen, as well as the unprecedented global refugee crisis. They agreed on the importance of the constructive and collective engagement of the international community to address the security challenges of the region.
