The Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2022-2031 (DPoA) was adopted today, 17 March 2022, in the first part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5).

The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), in partnership with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) will jointly launch the “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the least Developed Countries: From the Istanbul Programme of Action to Achieving Sustainable and Resilient Development” publication.
24 December 2021. Given the rise in COVID-19 cases around the globe, the LDC5 conference has been postponed. A decision on new dates is expected to be taken by the General Assembly in January. More information at https://www.un.org/ldc5/.
22 December 2021. The draft of the new comprehensive programme of action for LDCs, the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries (DPoA) has been approved. The Programme will be formally adopted by world leaders at LDC5.

The LDC Future Forum will bring together the academic community, policymakers and practitioners to solicit new thinking on the challenges and make policy recommendations for LDCs for the next decade. It will contribute to the Fifth United Nations Conference on LDCs (LDC5), taking place in Doha in January 2022, addressing structural challenges and emerging issues faced by LDCs.
30 August - 2 September 2021. The Asia-Pacific Regional Review will undertake a comprehensive appraisal of the implementation of the Istanbul Programme of Action in Asia-Pacific LDCs, share best practices and lessons learned and identify obstacles and constraints encountered. The meeting will identify effective international and domestic policies in the light of the outcome of the appraisal as well as new and emerging challenges and opportunities and the means to address them.
The 1st session of the Preparatory Committee for the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) will take place on 24-28 May 2021. More information here.
OHRLLS, OECD Development Centre and the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI) held a virtual event on 21 and 23 October 2020 “The Road to the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5): Recovery from COVID-19 - Tackling vulnerabilities and leveraging scarce resources” on 21 and 23 October 2020. Interpretation in English and French will be provided.
