About the LDC Portal

The LDC Portal brings together information from multiple organizations about international support provided to least developed countries (LDCs). Most of these measures are in the areas of trade; financial and technical assistance; support to participation in the United Nations and other international processes; and support for graduation. The portal was conceived with the aim of improving access to information on this support by government officials and other professionals in LDCs. In 2021, responding to feedback from users and to ensure compliance with new United Nations standards, it incorporated content from the website originally named Gradjet, developed to support countries through the graduation process.

The LDC Portal was developed by the Secretariat of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). The Portal responds to the request by the General Assembly to the Secretary-General to "enhance information-sharing and understanding of available least developed-country-specific international support measures" (Resolution 67/221. 2012). The CDP is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It provides independent advice to ECOSOC on development issues and is responsible for regularly reviewing the LDC category and for monitoring the progress of countries after they graduate from the category.  For additional information on the CDP and its Secretariat, please visit cdp.un.org.
