The end of the LDC transition period for pharmaceutical products under the TRIPS Agreement upon LDC graduation - Implications for Bangladesh

"The objective of the report is to assess the impact of implementing patent protection for pharmaceutical products upon the graduation from LDC status on the further growth of the pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh and the capacity of the government to ensure access to quality affordable medicines to its population. To arrive at this assessment, research was undertaken to understand the dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh and the extent to which the LDC pharmaceutical exemptions are being used. Informed by the research results, the report advances policy recommendations for the Government of Bangladesh and the pharmaceutical industry, in particular on what actions may be taken to further benefit from the LDC pharmaceutical exemptions."
