Asia-Pacific Countries with Special Needs Development Report 2025: Harnessing a new generation of programmes of action for sustainable development ambition (UN-ESCAP)

The first chapter in this report reflects on the progress made in poverty reduction and economic growth under the previous Istanbul Programme of Action, while drawing lessons related to sustainable graduation, tailored international support and setting measurable targets. The chapter then discusses the Doha Programme of Action for LDCs, noting the emphasis on resilience, digital transformation, and climate resilience. The chapter suggests that Asia-Pacific LDCs could prioritize strengthening social protection systems, accelerating digitalization efforts, enhancing institutional and governance frameworks, and ensuring smooth transition for graduating LDCs.
