I’m a Potato Grower! Strengthening Innovation to Empower Potato Growers in the Andes

This year’s Champions of the Earth and Young Champions of the Earth award ceremony will be held during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly Week on 26 September, in New York.

The 2019 Global Sustainable Development Report (to be launched September 11) is a UN comprehensive publication aiming to strengthen the science-policy interface, and to provide political guidance on the eradication of poverty and on sustainable development at the international level. As a strong scientific, evidence-based instrument authored by independent scientists, this report plays a significant role in the follow-up to the 2030 Agenda. The report aims to help support policymakers at high-level forums including the Sustainable Development Goals Summit (24-25 Sept).

The 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development calls for a spirit of strengthened global solidarity, focused in particular on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable, aiming to "leave no one behind." Charity provides real social bonding and contributes to the creation of inclusive, more resilient societies. Charity can alleviate the effects of humanitarian crises, supplement public services in health care, education, housing and child protection. The International Day of Charity was established with the goal of sensitizing and mobilizing people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to to help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities.
