On 25 October 2009, Tinker Bell was named Honorary Ambassador of Green to promote environmental awareness among children in the lead-up to the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. Tinker Bell’s mission was to inspire kids and their parents to nurture nature and do what they can to take care of the environment
The designation recognised the underlying theme of celebration of the environment in the Tinker Bell movies, stories told to inspire a love of nature among the audience.
Tinker Bell is one of the most recognizable and beloved of all Disney characters who first appeared in J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play Peter Pan its 1911 novelization Peter and Wendy.
