On 16 June at 9:00 a.m. (EST), join us for a virtual event to recognize the significant role of higher education in promoting human dignity and inclusion in a time when hatred is rising around the world.

Fighting Hate Speech: Global Perspectives, marks the first International Day for Countering Hate Speech and is the seventh iteration of the live discussion series Beyond the long shadow: engaging with difficult histories organized by the Department of Global Communications.

This event will highlight the teaching, research, and community engagement activities that are carried out in universities and colleges to counter hate speech on campus and beyond. It will show the contribution of institutions of higher education to create awareness and change policies.

We will share ideas from experts in the field with roles in international organizations on how to reinforce the role of academia in addressing hate speech.
